Sinkholes in Greece

Soil hazzards is this weeks topic of discussion. Sinkholes are Any area with imestone, carbonate rock, salt beds, or rocks that can naturally be dissolved by groundwater racing through them are susceptible to sick wholes. After the rock devolves space opens where soil naturally want to gravitate towards, causing sinkholes. Due to the fact that sinkholes they most definitely have happened in Greece.

Recently in Greece a smaller sinkhole occurred at the Rhodes International Airport causing delays in flights all around the country.  According to Mushable "The sinkhole was caused by a crack previously on the tarmac that had been repaired, but reopened, growing much larger after the torrential downpour." Like many other sink holes, large storms with heavy rainfall can effect the water levels all around causing sickholes in saseptable areas.

It is very hard to be prepared for a sinkhole to emerge. The best way to be prepared would be cautious about building suite in the future to try and prevent a disaster such as this one.
